Tim Hagan, county commissioner, has thrown another possible location into the mix for the Medical Mart: East55th and Chester. (See the Plain Dealer article.) At first glance, it seems like the worst possible location: unsafe area, few support services nearby (restaurants, etc.) and absolutely NO hotels within a couple miles. But perhaps “if we build it, they will come”, and the bridge between Downtown Cleveland and University Circle will finally be made.

According to the Plain Dealer, there is a third possible location in Downtown Cleveland for the Medical Mart, in addition to the Tower City and old Convention Center locations. Also under consideration is the Port of Cleveland. Read the article.

Now that the project looks to be a go, the big questions are:

1. Where will the Medical Mart go?  (looks like it will be somewhere in Downtown Cleveland, not by the Cleveland Clinic or University Hospitals)
2. What will it look like? (e.g. connected to a new Convention Center, a standalone building)
